Rhode-Island Marriage Records Search
Rhode Island marriage records are not open to the public for 100 years after the event at the state level and can only be accessed by the registrant, immediate family members, legal representatives or persons with direct and tangible interest. Rhode Island marriage records are also managed at the city/town level.
For the most current 100 years, certified copies of Rhode Island marriage records are available for purchase from both the State Office of Vital Records and the City/Town Clerk’s Office in the municipality where the marriage occurred. Marriage records over 100 years old are only available from the City/Town Clerk or from the Rhode Island State Archives.
Certified copies of Rhode Island marriage records are available by mail order for $20 with a check or money order made payable to the General Treasurer of Rhode Island, along with a photocopy of valid government-issued photo ID, and a completed application sent to the following address:
