Maine Marriage Records Search
Maine marriage records are not open to the public for 50 years after the event at the state level and can only be accessed by the registrant, immediate family members, a legal custodian, guardian or authorized representative. Maine marriage records are also managed at the municipality level.
For marriage records since 1923 to the present, copies of Maine marriage records are available for purchase from both the State Vital Records Office and the Municipal Clerk's Office in the municipality where the marriage occurred. Marriage records prior to 1923 are only available directly from the Municipal Clerk's Office. Maine marriage records for 1892-1922 are also available from the Maine State Archives.
Certified copies of Maine marriage records are available by mail order for $15 with a check or money order made payable to Treasurer, State of Maine, along with a copy of a government-issued ID, a self-addressed, stamped envelope and a completed application sent to the following address:
