Delaware marriage records are restricted from public access for 40 years after the event. During the restriction period, Delaware marriage records can only be accessed by the registrant, immediate family members, a legal guardian or a legal representative.
Copies of Delaware marriage certificates are available for purchase at both the state and county level.
Delaware marriage records since 1974 to the present are typically available from the DPH Vital Statistics Office. Marriage records prior to 1974 are available directly from the Delaware Public Archives.
Certified copies of Delaware marriage certificates are available by mail order for $25 with a check or money order made payable to the Office of Vital Statistics along with a copy of official valid photo ID and a completed application sent to the following address:
